Trafalgar Square =/= Tahrir Square

This was inspired by an article I read the other day, about how some people involved in the anti-cuts protests tomorrow are hoping to turn Trafalgar Square into Tahrir Square.

As much as I support most of the protests that will be happening tomorrow (I really wish the anarchists would fuck off, tbh), could people please stop comparing them to the ongoing protests in the Middle East? Cuts to services and job loses that have happened in the past year isn't really the same as living under a brutal dictatorship for several decades.

This is one thing that really annoys me, sure we don't have it quite so bad over here, but why did the protests start in Egypt and Tunisia etc. in the first place? Because of unemployment, corruption and inflation, that's why.

As for the anarchists, well whatever you may think of them they have a point, what is a protest with half a million people marching from A to B? Well essentially it's a show of force, then what's the point of showing force if you're never going to use it (NB by force I mean direct action not necessarily physical force).
